2019 Isuzu D-Max is Coming to US

Ford is a leader in the truck industry in most parts of the world. In some countries, it has strong competitors. Its Ranger, as a model for many areas except the US, is facing Isuzu D-Max as the main rival. For the upcoming season, the US carmaker is planning to return the Ranger to its homeland. However, the 2019 Isuzu D-Max could follow it. The battle between two trucks can only make benefit to buyers. Also, all fans of the Japanese pickup could expect a lot, since moving to the main truck market will require special tuning and modifications.

The 2019 D-Max pickup will come with new styling. Innovative design will be shown outside and inside the vehicle. This truck might not be the first tie when we talk about this segment. However, by stepping into the North American ground, its popularity is going to raise. Under the bonnet of the 2019 Isuzu D-Max lays a 2.5-l inline-four drivetrain. The engine is ready to deliver 180 hp and 175 pound-feet of torque. It is using a 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic gearbox. That depends on buyer’s choice. Not only that but also a drive method. If a buyer doesn’t like a 2-wheel drive configuration, the new Isuzu D-Max will also come in 4WD version.

Hybrid

There was a word about the innovations and changes in the truck market. One of them is the arrival of hybrid drivetrains to this segment. However, we still don’t have any pickup with big success. But, the announcement of Ford F-150 plug-in truck caused a chain reaction. Now, every major truckmaker started developing a hybrid. We expect the same with Isuzu D-Max, and we could see first platforms and test mules in 2019.

Diesel

It is more likely that the 2019 Isuzu D-Max is going to use a diesel unit instead of hybrid. But, this is another far-fetched story since the company needs to develop a new unit. For example, in Australia, this truck is using a 3.0-liter diesel with outputs of 170 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The pickup is also popular in the UK, where it gets power from a 1.9-liter engine. The turbodiesel mill is good for 165 hp and 270 lb-ft of twisting power. But, both these units are not meeting the requirements of the US regulations. Also, buyers in the new market will seek for more power and probably torque. So, D-max will have to go for 200 hp and drop emissions to appear in the US.

The price of the 2019 Isuzu D-max will start from at least $30,000. Some experts believe that the cost of development will make it even more expensive. Well, even if we see a truck starting from $35,000, with navigation and some other premium features, it is not going to be too much compared to its equivalent rivals.

It is not going to be the same truck, but the 2019 Isuzu D-Max will cost cheaper in the UK and Australia. Base models in the United Kingdom start from 21,000 pounds. In other country, the price is 35,000 AUD.
