2019 VW Amarok Possible US Release

Since 2010 the Amarok truck by Volkswagen performed well in the most of the world. Now, in the company believe it is time for a major step. The new 2019 VW Amarok is heading to the biggest market of pickup trucks – the US. However, it is not so easy to get there. Some while ago VW was in the center of emissions scandal, so buyers could be suspicious about their vehicles. Also, controls in the US are strict and there is no chance to cheat on tests. Also, the competition is bigger, and all that makes the presence in the segment pretty hard.

Nevertheless, the German carmaker proves us wrong many times. Whenever we though they can’t succeed, they did it. They are leaders in the car industry with their hatchbacks and sedans. Also, the company has a pretty successful lineup of crossovers. Now, it is time to upgrade their only truck. The VW Amarok could be the first pickup in the US, but we should look at it from another perspective. A compact vehicle can’t be alone, so if 2019 Amarok meets demands, be sure we will see a full-size truck from Volkswagen very soon.

The truck for 2018 season is late, so that leaves us suspicious about intentions for 2019 VW Amarok. If the German company skips this season, then upcoming 2019 should be perfect. However, Volkswagen would have extra time to make such truck. Although bosses are aiming to North American soil, the vehicle will remain available in South America, Europe, and Russia, as very important markets. The 2019 Volkswagen Amarok will probably debut in mid-2018.

2019 VW Amarok Engines

Back in 2016, the German carmaker replaced old 2.0-l 4-cylinder drivetrains with a V-6. This was the right move since new owners are praising the 3.0-l powertrain. So, this could be one of the possibilities for upcoming 2019 VW Amarok, even for the US market, although it is diesel. But, the company will consider some other options, in the first place a petrol unit.

But, let’s return to the more likely option. A 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel unit has two tunes. The one with higher output can make 2019 Amarok deliver 220 horses and impressive 400 lb-ft of torque. With these numbers, the truck will be a serious competitor. The other possibility for the same engine is to burst 170 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque through a 6-speed manual gearbox. In the previous case, the power router is an 8-pace auto transmission. By default, the Amarok will use a rear-wheel-drive system. An all-wheel drive is optional with VW’s 4Motion system.

2019 VW Amarok Redesign

Although its styling is already impressive, the 2019 VW Amarok will have to refresh its look for the US premiere. That means new exterior features will come. A two-bar grille is likely to happen, as well as LED DRL. Fog lights will be optional, while we could see larger air intakes on the front end. What made Amarok so impressive is access to the bed. Tuning is coming there too, and we are sure that all truckers will be interested to see a newcomer in salons.

The technology is evolving every day. To be successful, every carmaker must follow new trends. So, we don’t have to see a brand-new vehicle from the outside. Nowadays, most changes are coming in the cabin. The 2019 VW Amarok, although working truck, is full of luxury features.

Dashboard shape and look will be the same. But, the number of systems and features grow and evolves. We have an infotainment screen at the center of the control panel. Although current vehicle doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto apps, the 2019 Volkswagen Amarok will definitely have to consider these. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are already available.

Comfort is at a high level. Fronts seats are 14-way ergoComfort buckets, adjustable to any body size. More comfort comes with HVAC controls. Finally, the truck is already packed with plenty of helping features. So, the driver has fewer worries while parking the truck in urban areas. Rearview camera is standard, and sensors all around the pickup are more than helpful.

Also, rim levels are adding choices, which are already there with multiple engine option. Finally, the details could make up minds sometimes. And that is the area where Volkswagen is very successful. For Amarok pickup, especially in the US, designers will give the best to make the vehicle more appealing.

This truck was also very practical for tuning, which makes it very popular among fans. Various accessories could be added, and be sure that tuning houses and enthusiasts will use it for truck shows.

Where will 2019 VW Amarok be built?

The only VW factory that produces Amarok at the moment is in Argentina. In General Pacheco, the trucks are assembled for Oceania, Europe, South America. The North American market will need closer production. That means the Volkswagen could move it northern. There are two factories as options. In the USA, the German carmaker makes Atlas SUV and Passat sedan in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 2019 Amarok could find its life there. Also, another possibility for pickup is to be produced in Mexico. There is the largest production line of the German carmaker outside its homeland.

  1. The first time I saw it was was few years ago in Uruguay and is sooooo beautiful……
When I arrived to USA I asked the dealer and he didn’t have any idea of that pick up.
    It’s pure class.
    I will get mine…..

  2. Please don’t waste money developing any of the proposed pickup trucks you are currently considering. The pent-up demand is for a SMALL pickup like many companies used to make and now have abandoned. It needs a 6 foot bed, access cab and some drive train that is economical to own.
