2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty Is Getting Ready For NAIAS 2019

With the hype about the new Ford F-150 cooling down, it is time for other models to shine. A mid-size Ranger pickup had a debut as well, and its Raptor version is expected in next couple of months. But, the latest spy photos are confirming this is not going to be a star of the upcoming season. Instead, truck lovers, prepare for the brand-new 2020 Ford F-350.

The heavy-duty truck was spied and it shows a handful of interesting changes. Cosmetic and aesthetic modifications will make 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty meaner, bolder, tougher. Well, the redesign is not going to affect the engine room. Not too much, since the same powertrain lineup will be there for 2020 season. But, the Super Duty F-350 truck could get a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty 7.0-liter Engine

Leaked sources are giving us hints that a 7.0-liter petrol engine is in development. This would be the new biggest unit in Ford’s lineup. But, it is still a rumor and we don’t know too much about it. According to these sources, the drivetrain is going to be more capable than existing. With 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, a 7.0-liter will offer more towing capacity than a 6.2-liter mill rated at 17,000 pounds.

Diesel Engine

Neither existing, nor possible 7.0-liter gasoline drivetrain can’t match outputs of Powerstroke diesel. A turbo engine is ready to produce 450 hp and 935 lb-ft of torque. These numbers are best in class. Tiny nuances will make difference between 2020 Ford F-350, Ram 3500 and Silverado 3500. Fifth wheel and dually configuration allow these trucks to tow over 30,000 pounds. The new F-350 could go up to 32,000 lbs.

The latest images from Michigan show us hints about changes on the 2020 Ford F-350. The Super Duty truck is wearing a camouflage. Although it hides most of the body, the company couldn’t save everything from fans and enthusiasts.

It seems like the Super Duty segment is getting a new grille with the big blue oval badge at the center. Also, rectangular bars are narrower. Some other details are indicating that 2020 Ford F-350 could borrow some styling solutions from its smaller sibling, F-150.

2020 Ford F-350 Release Date

Although it is too early to talk about a debut of the 2020 Ford F-350, we can’t write off chances to appear at Detroit’s Auto Show in 2019. This is almost certain. That is Ford’s home, and no other automotive happening is going to draw so much attention and publicity. Whatsoever, the company will present only the concept, while the most details will be unveiled piece by piece for the whole year.

Competition

The 2020 Ford F-350 is not the only heavy-duty truck that expects the premiere in 2019. Ram HD and Chevy 2500/3500 are also coming with a lot of changes, trying to challenge the best-earning Ford’s segment. Also, Nissan Titan XD is the only non-American truck that draws enough attention and buyers, so it can be considered as a rival to the big three models. Prices of all these HD pickups are nearly the same for the entry-level models.
