The biggest, the toughest, the mightiest GMC Sierra heavy-duty truck is heading into a new generation. The GM twins, Sierra and Silverado will together enter the new chapter during next season as the 2020 year models. Redesign of the front fascia, interior revisit, engine tuning to get more power, are the main changes on the new truck. Besides that, the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD will remain everything we got used from it – functional, reliable, and durable.
The 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD is an excellent solution if you want to tow. As its sibling from Chevy family, there are the same options for the engine room. Both of them are offering diesel and petrol units. Of course, towing capacity is greater with the first one. Logical, it is the more popular. Eight trim levels could get the new top model – Denali. Heavy-duty truckers can already find one of these packages in the previous edition.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD Specs
So, the turbodiesel is the same as before. But, after the announced revisit, the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD will burst over 930 lb-ft from its Duramax engine. A 6.6-liter drivetrain can also create 450 horses. Both values are much higher than a petrol model delivers. With a dual rear wheels configuration, the towing capacity will be among the best in the class. It is now already there, but Ram 3500 HD and Ford F-350 also prepare improvements in this segment.
Under the hood of the base model is a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine. This one is not so powerful as Duramax diesel. Its output is just 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. It can also use CNG, but that is possible after a special treatment. Towing capacity then drops to 21,000 pounds, with gooseneck included. Conventional towing is 17,000 lbs.

Mid-range levels are SLE and SLT. Both are having options for single and dual rear wheels. Top of the range is Sierra 3500 Denali. This is more a home than a truck. A lot of luxurious features will be there, such as heating and ventilating seats. Both rear wheel configurations will cost the same. But, we will recognize it thanks to the new design of the front grille. Special colors are there as well.
