The Blue Oval company is in many projects. We can see interesting ideas surrounding its legendary F-150 pickup. But, the heavy-duty market generates the most profit. However, truckers are not keen on some fancy upgrades that won’t help them in their jobs. But, one model from the upcoming lineup could draw the attention – the 2021 Ford F-250 Raptor.
The truckmaker launched the new edition of its Super Duty lineup. But, designers and engineers are not done with upgrades yet. It is early to expect a sort of mild-hybrid engine since truckers need a lot of power and extreme towing numbers. But, the Raptor package could offer something he existing lineups are not using yet – exceptional off-road features and the special driving impression.
2021 Ford F-250 Raptor vs F-150
Raptor version is a dream upgrade for all Ford vehicles, not only trucks. But, the F-150 pickup is currently the single product that will offer you such a package. It includes a special engine and numerous other upgrades that make this pickup tougher and more resistible for the off-road tasks. Lifted suspension, underbody protection, special tires and wheels, skid plates, and unique exterior styling are the things you are getting with this package. We believe most of these features will be available when the 2021 Ford F-250 Raptor enters the market.
2021 Ford F-250 Raptor Specifications
For the smaller truck, engineers are using a different setup. It creates 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. But, the Super Duty lineup has a couple of engines available. A 6.2-liter petrol displacement is weaker than a twin-turbo V6 on the F-150 Raptor. On the other hand, F-250 gets the best in class outputs from a 6.7 turbodiesel unit. The new engine for the Super Duty lineup is a 7.3-liter V8. We heard that this mill could be the Raptor’s next engine and it could happen in the HD segment.
The powerplant is ready to deliver 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, which is 45 ponies more than the smaller displacement. A ten-speed automatic transmission is a power router and it is making this engine more efficient than a 6.2-l displacement paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Towing capacity numbers are not unveiled, while the EPA is not offering estimations of the fuel economy. Packed with an off-road gear, the 2021 Ford F-250 Raptor is not going to be a fuel-friendly truck.
The most impressive numbers and maximum towing capacities for the Super Duty lineup are coming from the F-350 Dually truck. At this moment we can find rumors only about the F-250, which is not available with the dual-rear-wheel configuration. We could see the Ford Velociraptor concept before, with the 6×6 setup, but this was the aftermarket upgrade, not approved by the Blue Oval company. Hennessey tuned it to 750 horsepower.
First, we will look for the 2021 Ford F-250 Raptor details by the carmaker and then it will be easier to find out future plans for this nameplate. Definitely, once the package enters the new market, it will be easier to spread to similar models.
