We don’t know where these renders are coming from, but they look legit. The company might leak some early design solutions of the new 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz. On the other hand, this might be the work of a hard-core fan. And we must say – it would be great to see such truck in the market any time soon.
The design is obviously borrowed by the new Palisade SUV. The big mid-size model could also offer a hand with the drivetrain since its 3.8-liter V6 would perfectly fit into a mid-size pickup truck. On the other hand, inside the cockpit, we won’t need a 10-inch display or advanced infotainment systems. It will drop the value of the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz, but also make it more affordable. The Korean company is going to offer higher trim levels whose price will end over $40,000.
The mid-size truck market is recovering. Ford feels the momentum and the Blue Oval company immediately brought back Ranger. Jeep is back on the market with Gladiator, although it is a little oversized for a mid-size model. Nevertheless, the FCA also plans to bring back Dodge Ram Dakota. Besides the comebacks, we could see a few new faces. The 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz is one of them. Subaru is also working on a pickup truck.
So, the competition is tough. But, Santa Cruz is ready. Hyundai is ready for challenges. The Korean company shows a lot of promise with its current crossover and SUV lineup. They show a lot of ambition with the new Palisade. Hyundai is also working on the full-size Grandmaster model. So, having a pickup truck in its lineup is an ultimate goal which will introduce the company in a whole new market (and new buyers as well).
2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz Specs
So, the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz will get the same engine as the mid-size SUV, Palisade. It is a 3.8-liter V6 engine that is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. We still don’t have towing capacity numbers, but we believe the truck will be ready to tow at least 5,000 pounds. It can be even higher if engineers switch the front-wheel drive, and forward power to rear wheels. The AWD will be optional.
We can already read rumors about the hybrid version of the SUV. Well, the Santa Cruz pickup will be close to the situation, and whatever we see on Palisade, the truck will also get it. Diesel engine might appear outside the US. Turbo-four is not an option.
2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz Release Date
The new Palisade had a debut, but the sales didn’t start yet. the company will give it some time to check the first impressions. Chiefs will listen to critics carefully and fix these lacks for the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz. The vehicle is not going to appear until the next summer. Compared to the images we can see, the production version will need a revisit before it hits the market. Whatsoever, designers have plenty of time to craft the perfect mid-size model. The price is going to be competitive. Without a 4-cylinder engine, we expect from Santa Cruz to cost around $25,000.
