What’s New for 2021 Ram 1500? Quick Tips

Don’t expect big things. The latest truck is still new. However, the FCA is always making new seasons interesting with special models and updates. The 2021 Ram 1500 could get the most special unit in history – Rebel TRX. Well, we expect this one for a couple of seasons, but the company still fails to deliver it.

Until the Ram Rebel enters the production, the 2021 Ram 1500 Diesel remains the most interesting model. Still, there is plenty of other options for the truck, including different drivetrains, trim levels, optional packages, colors…

Engine Tour

Did you know that Ram 1500 is the only truck with a mild-hybrid engine? Well, you won’t get any spectacular results with this setup. However, the mild-hybrid setup is a good start for further developments. Is it going to get some serious PHEV drivetrain, we will see soon. For the 2021 Ram 1500, no.

The base offer includes a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Another V6 unit is a new turbodiesel powerplant. This one is under the spotlight for nearly two years. The debut of the Ram 1500 Diesel stole the show at 2018 NAIAS from Ford F-150 Diesel and Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel. The engine is good for 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque.

A couple of V8 units is completing the lineup. A 5.7-l displacement is capable of producing 395 hp and 410 pound-feet. Top of the line engine is a 6.4-liter Hemi with 475 hp and 470 lb-ft, available only on special editions.

…also called the Raptor-Killer. It is not a surprise, knowing the Ram Rebel SRT is going to use a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. The so-called Hellcat unit is going to destroy the competition with 707 horsepower. The company is not officially confirming it, but they are making hints through several easter eggs in the past.

2021 Ram 1500 Trim Levels

Crew Can and Double Cab, short and long box, plus at least six standard trim levels are choices available for buyers. Well, not all options are compatible. The base offer starts with the Tradesman package. Big Horn and Laramie are the mid-range offers, and probably best deals if you want to save some money. Rebel is an off-road oriented truck, while Laramie Longhorn and Limited editions are packed with some exclusive features.
