2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Changes

The 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is the most interesting model in the lineup for the upcoming truck. The Japanese company will launch the new edition in 2022 as 2023 YM, but the off-road package is going to be revisited for the next season. We see new features on the current Tacoma, and its full-size cousin will go through a similar update very soon.

This truck remains one of the best options for the off-roading. The only true competitor is Ford F-150 Raptor. Trailhawk edition for Ram 1500 and Pro-4X bundle the Nissan Frontier is offering are not good enough to compete with 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.

Toyota is Expanding the Lineup

We could guess this before. The only question was – which is the next model to get the TRD Pro treatment. Initially, Tundra and Tacoma trucks, and 4Runner SUV were original squad. From 2020, full-size Sequoia joined the party. The SUV was on the list of favorites, but we thought the carmaker could boost a smaller Highlander or even the luxury Land Cruiser. However, these models can count that in the future, the same treatment is going to be available.

2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro vs TRD Sport

There is another TRD package, but it costs significantly cheaper. The Sport edition is not offering such a great performance boost like the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Still, it will bring the new setup that makes the truck more capable for tougher duties. But, the real deal comes with the Pro version. Unique shocks, suspension, skid plates, exhaust system, tires, and other upgrades are going to maximize the drive impression in tough situations.

No Diesel Engine For Tundra

The company made it clear – Tundra truck is not getting a diesel drivetrain. We were hoping that some of the existing V8 units could come across the ocean, but the manufacturer wrote off these rumors. The diesel engine is not happening, although we wanted to see it in combination with the TRD Pro package. Still, such a unit is still possible for the smaller Tacoma or Toyota’s SUVs.

2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro vs Ford F-150 Raptor

The main choice, if you are after off-road trucks, is to choose Toyota or Ford. Chevrolet and other companies cannot match the performance of Tundra and F-150, specially equipped with the TRD Pro and Raptor packages. Well, the Blue Oval company is using a high-output version of a V6 engine, which is the main difference compared to the V8 for Tundra. Raptor generates extra power and torque, but 70 ponies and 100 lb-ft more is not the only factor. The equipment 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is going to use will help this model catch up with Ford.
