Ranger didn’t fulfill expectation since its comeback to the US market. We can be fans of this, or any other pickup, but the sales numbers tell the best. The truck that was supposed to compete with the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado is underachieving. It is painful to see that even Maverick achieved more sales in the last quarter. So, the 2024 Ford Ranger will need something special.
One of the reasons might be an announcement of the next-gen pickup. That slowed down the current version. With that one on the way, the expectations are high again. This time, the Blue Oval company is not going to disappoint. The next-gen Ranger will debut in 2023 as the 2024YM. Of course, the fresh look is going will be introduced. But, truckers are more interested in changes under the hood.
A hybrid truck is possible, although we don’t have official confirmation for those rumors. Also, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor should finally arrive in the US. Global version of this pickup is using a diesel engine. In the United States, Ranger Raptor could deploy a high-output V6 petrol mill.
2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, Finally (With a V6 Engine)
Ever since the comeback to the US market, fans are expecting to see the top package. The only Raptor is still F-150, now featuring the Raptor R with monstrous outputs. Ranger Raptor is available in other markets with a turbodiesel engine. This one is not coming to the US. Instead, a V6 might be under the hood. A 3.0-liter mill with turbochargers seems like a perfect fit. In some other vehicles, this system can provide 360-400 horsepower.
Besides a more potent engine, the 2024 Ranger Raptor is also going to offer upgrades for a smoother off-road drive. Again, you can compare it to the existing F-150 and the non-US Ranger. But, the new version is going to be unique. Fox shocks, special suspensions, bedliner, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and more skid plates are just some of the upgrades we’ll definitely see on the truck.
2024 Ford Ranger Hybrid: Pros and Cons
It is still a hot topic. If anyone is going to test the market, that will be the Blue Oval company. There are a few options we see for the 2024 Ford Ranger. First, the company can upgrade an existing powertrain. It will be interesting to see a 2.3-liter turbo-four unit in a hybrid system. Many flagship vehicles across the lineup are using this plant, including Mustang and Bronco SUV.
From other solutions, we can mention a hybrid system from the Explorer SUV. With 320 hp, it might be a good solution and the most likely move by Ford. But, the truckmaker always wants to impress. So, don’t be surprised if bosses decide to deploy a mighty PHEV system centered around a 3.0-liter V6 engine. For the Lincoln Aviator, it creates 494 hp.
Still, the hybrid truck market is still dead. Companies are not so keen in the investment into such models. A hybrid system improves power and gas mileage. But, the most important data in the specs sheet decreases – the towing capacity.
