After an updated styling for the 2024 YM, we expect changes under the hood for the 2025 Jeep Gladiator. The 4xe model was supposed to be available already, but the company prolonged the premiere. It is going to replace a diesel engine, discontinued for the current edition. Not unexpected, since an oil burner was the same one from the Ram 1500 half-ton truck. The 4xe is a cleaner source of power, a plug-in hybrid system. Gladiator is taking it from the Wrangler SUV. Well, until the midsize pickup was released and the new name unveiled, many experts and enthusiasts called it a “Wrangler truck”.
So, the PHEV is being added, finally… But, when will the all-electric Magneto become available? Let’s get the hybrid version first. Sport, Willys, Mojave and Rubicon are the 4 trim levels you will see for sure. Of course, a few more could be added. For example, we are trying to find out more about the 2025 Jeep Gladiator Hercules. Also, people ask about a V8 engine, but it is unlikely to happen on the midsize truck. The redesign is bringing more color options. A complete palette will be unveiled when the pickup enters salons.
Base Engine and Specs; No More Diesel
Under the hood of the 2025 Jeep Gladiator remains a petrol engine as the base choice. That is a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp. Nevertheless, the company will look to replace it with a turbo-four unit in the foreseeable future. Most rivals did the same with their midsize pickups. It improves the mileage, which is not so great for the Gladiator. An 8-speed automatic and a 6-pace manual transmissions are available, depending on the configuration and trim levels. The towing capacity remains at 7,650 pounds.
Diesel engine couldn’t beat this, so the company discontinued it. For a long time, Chevy Colorado was a class leader in towing thanks to an oil burner. Now petrol units can top 7,700 lbs. Still, for higher towing records, you will need a full-size truck. Not only that there are petrol units with similar capacity, but also thanks to pollution, diesel powertrains have no bright future in the US market.
2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe and All-Electric Truck
The Gladiator is actually the Wrangler pickup. Two vehicles share a lot of things. Still, SUV is the flagship model that introduces new technology to Jeep fans. One of them is a plug-in hybrid system, called 4xe. Ever since the debut on the Wrangler, we expect it to see on Gladiator as well. Since the company confirmed it and missed to launch with the 2024 YM, there is no way they will make another delay beyond the following season.
The system relies on a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Enhanced by electric motors, the 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe will be ready to produce at least 375 hp. The reason for the delay could be a revisit, so the PHEV can perform better when towing. Engineers might add extra power. The 4xe system can operate by using only electric power and the range should be between 20-25 miles.
If you are looking for an all-electric truck, be patient. Even if it doesn’t debut on the 2025 Gladiator, the EV called Magneto will join the lineup soon. Of course, the company is going to launch the electric drivetrain on the Wrangler first. According to rumors, the SUV will be able to cover 250 miles on a single charge.
2025 Jeep Gladiator Hercules Model
The redesigned truck for the 2024 season has 4 trim levels to offer. If you don’t need an off-road package, then only base and Willys are options. The real deal starts with the Mojave model. It is a 4×4 setup for a light off-road drive. The Rubicon is one of the best configurations for adventurers. You can compare it to the class leaders. But, with the arrival of the Ford Ranger Raptor, Jeep will need something special.
The 2025 Jeep Gladiator Hercules will be based on the Rubicon edition, but it is ready to elevate the off-road drive to the next level. The truck will need it, since the rival bursts 400 hp and 430 lb-ft. The Hercules model could use the 4xe PHEV setup to get close to the new biggest rival.
Prices and Release Date
All the novelties for the 2025 Gladiator will be out pretty soon after we step into the 2024 season. The redesigned truck is ready to take another dose of changes before the competition reacts to the facelift. With new engines, it will definitely be more interesting. The bad thing is – the price goes up. Jeep didn’t announce the pricing yet, but expect the new Gladiator around $40,000. Off-road builds will add at least $10,000 and the PHEV system is also a $10k upgrade. With the Hercules model topping the Rubicon offer, the high-end price can end up above $75,000.
