It is not the most luxurious, but it is definitely one of the most favorite models in the entire F-150 lineup. The Raptor is a performance-oriented pickup that will take you wherever you want. There is no obstacle that will stop this vehicle. Since there are no big upgrades for the upcoming season, we expect from the Blue Oval company to pay more attention to 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor. When we say this, we mean serious update, meaner machine, more of everything.
And, it is possible. From Hybrid Concept to so-called Velociraptor, we can see some varieties of 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor. The new full-size pickup is getting a diesel engine, and this is another thing Raptor’s fans would like to see. Until then, a V6 remains the main source of power and V8 wish of many enthusiasts. More about the 2020 F-150 Raptor will be known during 2019 when the company starts to present updates of the pickup.
2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Specs and V8
One thing is certain – the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will continue to use the high-output V6 engine as the primary drivetrain. This durable and reliable unit is truck’s partner for a while. It is also the main reason why buyers love their ride so much. When you add 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque to the list, there is no surprise why Raptor is so popular. Estimated EPA fuel economy is 15/18 mpg. But, you will spend most of the time riding the 2020 Ford Raptor off the road, so these numbers are not the most precise. Gas mileage will depend on weather and terrain. But, if engineers manage to push the fuel economy a bit, Raptor would leave the upcoming competition in the dust.
While the 3.5-liter V-6 performs great, many fans would like beefed up 5.0-liter V8 for the next Raptor. Well, it could be possible with the rising competition. Chevrolet is already testing Silverado 1500 ZR2 off-road truck, and Ram is teasing high-output Rebel TRX with Hellcat engine and 707 hp.

Ram Rebel TRX Hellcat could be a Raptor-Killer truck.
Boosting the output could be a solution for F-150 Raptor. A V8 is currently producing 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of twisting power. With turbochargers, engineers could skyrocket the outputs to at least 500 horsepower and 550 pound-feet. This is why fans are asking for 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor V8.
2020 Raptor Diesel
From this stance, it seems like that 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Diesel is a more realistic story. This drivetrain is coming for the standard truck. However, its 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque are not going to be enough if Ford wants to slap Raptor sticker to it. Options are either to bring a larger displacement or to boost a 3.0-liter V6 to create at least 500 lb-ft of torque. With it, off-road capabilities could compete with likes of Silverado ZR2 and Ram Rebel TRX.
Raptor Hybrid Concept
Electrification process in Ford has started. In the next few years, we will see more and more electric and hybrid vehicles across all segments. One of them will be a pickup truck. We already wrote about the regular version becoming a hybrid, as a response to Ram 1500 hybrid pickup. But, is 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Hybrid possible? A high-output fuel-friendly mean off-road truck? As a concept, it sounds silly. But, do not write off anything coming from Ford. Never!
2020 Ford F-150 Velociraptor
Hennessey Performance is playing around with many vehicles. But, Velociraptor draws more attention than others. People in HP already installed an existing V8 to the F-150. And what was a result? 760 horsepower beast, supported by the custom supercharger. Be sure something like this will be the response if Ram Rebel challenges 2020 F-150 Raptor with 700+ hp Hellcat engine.
This company further tunes include a 600 hp version, that also gains 662 lb-ft of torque. Finally, if you ever saw a 6×6 Raptor on the street, that is another creation by Hennessey Performance.
2020 Ford F-150 Raptor vs Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 vs Ram Rebel TRX
So far, Raptor had no serious competition. At least not from companies Ford usually competes with. But, the situation is changing, since both GM and FCA are preparing performance-tuned off-road pickup trucks. Chevy Silverado ZR2 model is coming with similar upgrades as its sibling Colorado. Shocks, suspension, all-terrain tires, will improve its off-road capabilities. Compared to 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor, Silverado 1500 ZR2 is going to use a V8 engine that creates over 650 horsepower. The truck is already spied, and it is just a matter of time when it enters production.
On the other hand, there are more and more rumors and hints about the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX, or Hellcat. The latest easter egg we found at the premiere of the new full-size Ram 1500. At its display, the time was set for 7:07. That is the output a Hemi V8 engine can create. Coincidence? We wouldn’t say so. Well, it remains unknown when the TRX concept is entering production. According to rumors, in 2020.
2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Release Date and Price
With so many possibilities we can’t wait to see the new 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor. We can’t see responses from all companies. Fun is guaranteed and lovers of off-road trucks will benefit from it.
The new 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will be available in 2019, probably in the last quarter. But, we want to see possible hybrid and diesel editions. At least, fans would like to know what to expect. Of course, Ford will keep this as a top secret until spring. Well, if rivals make a move, expect a quick reaction by the Blue Oval company.
The base units of the new Raptor will keep the price just above $50,000. On the other hand, the Hybrid model won’t be so affordable. It will add at least $20k. Diesel could raise the cost of about $5,000. Velociraptor is a custom-made truck and its 6×6 version costs $350,000.
