With the new generation of the heavy-duty trucks arrived recently, we can’t expect big changes to the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD. Well, the company already introduced the special version for the next season. That is the Carhartt model with modified styling and a diesel engine under the hood.
The rest of the 2021 Silverado HD will be the same. Buyers will choose between 2500 and 3500 versions, and the other one offers a dual-rear-wheel drive. The total torque of the turbodiesel unit reaches 910 lb-ft, while the trucks also offer a petrol unit with 400 hp.
2021 Silverado Specs
The main source of the power of the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is a 6.6-liter gasoline engine with 400 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The company dropped a 6.0-liter unit last year and mates the new powerplant with the same six-speed automatic transmission box. The truck improves payload capacities and acceleration. Still, if you need it for tough tasks, the diesel is a better choice.
Duramax Diesel
Serious truckers will skip the first option and go after the turbodiesel unit. The 2021 Chevy Silverado HD will achieve 450 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. What is more important, the truck reaches a maximum towing capacity of 35,000 pounds. It is possible with proper equipment – gooseneck package and dual rear wheel configuration. The diesel unit sends power through a new ten-speed Allison gearbox.
2021 Chevy Silverado HD Carhartt
The new version for the upcoming season is the Carhartt. The company decided to launch this model at the SEMA show and combines familiar elements. The base for the new craft is the LTZ truck with Z71 package add-on to improve off-road skills. Outside, the highlight of the exterior is the new set of wheels. 20-inch rims have a Carhartt logo in the middle, while we can find soft rollup tonneau as well. Of course, there are many golden details. The new version is not coming out before the last quarter of 2020.
Silverado HD vs Ford Super Duty
While the Ram 1500 took over the #2 spot in the full-size segment, the FCA can’t compete with Ford and Chevy in the heavy-duty class. Like for many other segments, Chevrolet and the Blue Oval badges will fight for more buyers. Well, the new Super Duty 3500 can achieve over 1,000 pound-feet of torque thanks to its new setup with the Powerstroke unit as the center of it. Still, the capabilities are nearly equal and buyers won’t make a huge mistake by picking any of these.

2021 Chevy Silverado HD Release Date
Without changes, the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is not going to be under the spotlight. Still, some truckers are already asking about the new version of the heavy-duty vehicle. The Carhartt is arriving in the final quarter of 2020, and the rest of the lineup will come out at the same time.
The price of the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD will start at $34,500 for the 2500 version and $36,000 for the 3500 model. Regular, Double, and Crew cab are further choices. All-wheel drive adds around $3,000, while the diesel option costs $10k more than the new petrol configuration.
