The new generation of the truck debuted relatively recently. However, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will be redesigned. The key reason we can find when we take a look at the sales charts. FCA sold more Ram 1500 trucks last year. This triggered the alarm and General Motors has to do something about it.
The redesign is a smart, but expected move. The company will have to do a lot more than that. A high-performance version is becoming more needed than ever. Again, Ram 1500 is not cementing the No2 spot, but it is after the Ford F-150 with the TRX version hitting the market next season. If caused the Blue Oval company to react and they are developing a new Raptor model, with higher outputs. And where is the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 in all these stories? Only rumors about Reaper and ZR2 concept come as consolation.
For now, we must be happy with the info that the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will bring a fresh look. Test mules are out on the streets and GM is not trying to hide their plans. Still, details are unavailable, with still being a few months since the new truck’s release.
The front fascia wears the most camo. So, we expect many changes there. We can see a new set of headlights, very similar to the new GMC Sierra 1500. At the back, fresh taillamps revisited bed with a Multi-Flex system, and the bumper is different than on the current edition. Only the Regular Cab version was tested so far, but the changes will be included in other configurations.
2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Hybrid and Off-Road Model
There are two possible things that could make the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 competitive. The long list of engines needs reinforcements. The company surprised everyone when added a turbo-four unit. But, truckers won’t take this powerplant too seriously. A potent hybrid configuration would fix that, especially if the company brings it before its main rivals. Although there is no info about this project, do not write off GM yet. The company announced big plans of an electric future, which will start when the 2022 Hummer truck hits the market. It is going to be an electric pickup. However, a lighter, hybrid technology might happen for the 2022 Silverado.
Chevrolet will definitely need to get on the line with the Raptor truck. This one is making a difference. Now, when the FCA is in the game as well, Chevy Silverado will only lose its buyers. So, the ZR2 or the Reaper truck must respond to threats. GM has a good base for upgrades. There is a mighty engine from Camaro muscle car, as well as big V8 units already available for Silverado. With proper tuning, these mills will be ready to respond to high outputs by Ram 1500 TRX and Ford F-150 Raptor.
2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Release Date
General Motors is speeding up the development of the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. They need a quick response, and the redesign is a good start. The new pickup will hit dealerships in the second half of 2021. Other versions will follow and debut by the end of the year.
