A 6.6-liter V8 engine is an all-new model, which debuted in 2020. Back then, the company made big changes in the entire HD lineup, including Chevy and GMC models. The new source of power replaced an old 6.0 model. Now, the 2022 Sierra 3500 can do 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The fresh configuration is there to save some fuel and add extra towing capacity.
Still, you will need a Duramax unit to get the best from the Sierra Series 3 truck. A 6.6-liter oil-burner is turbocharged and it creates 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. Engineers might revisit the system since Ram and Ford trucks are over 1,000 pound-feet. Converted to towing capacity, that is 35,500 lbs, while its rivals are over 36,000 pounds. The good thing about the system is that engineers paired the turbodiesel unit with a new 10-speed Allison transmission. Even Ram is considering a move from AISIN since the new gearbox is praised by truckers.

You can configure the 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 with the two best packages this company is offering. There is an off-road specialist, AT4, and luxury model, Denali. The first one comes with a 4×4 drive and special suspensions. Of course, upgrades such as skidplates and tow hooks are standard. Bedliner is installed as well. On the other hand, if you are looking for luxury, then the Denali version comes with leather seats, heated buckets, high-end options for the multimedia system, and probably Super Cruise technology as the optional upgrade. Heavily loaded, Series 3 truck with 4×4 drive and Denali package is going to cost just under $60,000. You can also upgrade the truck with the 5th wheel to maximize the towing capacity. So-called dually setup is required if you want to haul more than 35,000 pounds.
