Reports from Australia confirm the 2022 Mitsubishi L200 will be an all-new model. It is part of the company’s plan for the next few seasons. We will see a lot of novelties on the upcoming truck, and all other vehicles the Japanese manufacturer is producing. For now, we know the L200 is the first to arrive, while the markets where the vehicle is coming out as Triton will see the new model a bit later. All in all, Mitsubishi is ready to keep pace with other truckmakers in Australia and Pacific Asia.
There will be nine new models in the next two years by this carmaker. The company will sacrifice some markets and focus on the parts of the world where their pickup is the most popular. In Australia, the 2022 Mitsubishi L200 is going to be called “ute”. That won’t be all, since the all-new Pajero Sport SUV will be truck-based, sharing the same architecture as the L200. The current generation was launched in 2015 and Mitsubishi redesigned it for the 2019 season.
2022 Mitsubishi L200: Expectations
Mitsubishi is a part of the big alliance. Nissan, one of the best-known automakers worldwide, is developing an all-new Navara. Experts believe two pickups will share a lot of things in common. Platforms and engines are very likely to be the same. On the other hand, the competition is not sitting tight. We can say that Nissan fights its way against other huge truckmakers – Toyota and Ford. In the second tiers are slightly smaller manufacturers. Besides the 2022 Mitsubishi L200, we will see a few more debuts of new trucks. Mazda is not Ford’s partner. Its upcoming BT50 will share architecture and engines with Isuzu D-Max. These two are trucks for the Asian market which cannot be found in too many other countries.
Redesign, Changes
There are no details about the upcoming redesign. But, we can find a few things about the next Pajero Sport SUV. Changes on the front fascia should be similar on two models that share the same platform. Still, that is not carved in the stone and the ute needs more eye-catching details to beat the strong competition. Designers and engineers are working on fixing the problems the previous generation faced.
The ride was not too comfortable, even on highways. The suspension was a bit bumpy and engineers will have to do something about this old bad habit. Still, the truck is tough and reliable for towing, which is the main purpose. We believe the 2022 Mitsubishi L200 will keep these characteristics. With the new exterior comes the fresh interior. More features and advanced accessories will improve safety and reliability. Mitsubishi will keep the pace with modern trends. That means a touchscreen display at the center dashboard, while the multimedia system is going to offer smartphone pairing services, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When Will 2022 Mitsubishi L200 Come Out?
The new vehicle is already announced and fans are waiting eagerly for its debut. The company is not going to let them cool off and give the competition too much time to react. We expect to see the premiere of the all-new truck this summer.
