The star of the 2023 Chevy Silverado lineup will be the new ZR2 model. General Motors needs a shocking therapy to recover the reputation. The performance-oriented model is a bit late, since both main rivals are a step or to ahead. FCA started the new era in the truck segment by delivering the Hellcat engine and Ford responded immediately with the Raptor R. Now it is Chevrolet’s turn to catch up.
Silverado 1500 is the full-size truck. The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD segment offers Series 2 and 3 trucks. Equipped with the Duramax turbodiesel, those are the most-capable pickups in the market. GM recently updated the drivetrain system and the Allison transmission is making a difference in the heavy-duty class. Finally, the squad is complete with the Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 models.
Half-Ton Truck: 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2
So, the game is on. Ram puts a pressure on the rivals by finally launching the TRX Rebel with 702 hp rated engine. Ford didn’t waste time. The new version of the Raptor, called R, is going to respond with 750 hp. We expect the same from the GM. A few spy photos indicate that the truckmaker is working on the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2. But, nothing is official and fans are not 100 percent sure that the spied prototype was the performance truck.
The rest of the lineup will be pretty much the same. The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a wide range of engines, including a turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain. There are also a V6 and a pair of V8. Trim levels are also making the build more interesting. Some of the models we would recommend are High Country, if you are fan of luxury equipment, or the Z71, if you want to go off the road.
Best Haulers: 2023 Chevy Silverado HD
Silverado can tow 36,000 pounds. Of course, that is not possible with the half-ton model, but you need to swim into heavy-duty class. The 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD with a dual-rear-wheel setup is ready to beat Series 3 trucks both by Ram and Ford. Duramax engine is the main reason for such a high capacity. It can produce 440 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. Even the base configuration is more than capable, with the towing capacity above 22,000 lbs.
Again, trim levels make the HD lineup more interesting. High Country looks more than impressive. For the new season, the company is not going to make huge changes. Recently, a new engine joined the lineup (6.0-l replaced 6.6-l petrol mill) and the Allison transmission was revisited.
Medium-Duty Segment: 4500, 5500, 6500
Ram is not a competition here. Only Ford and Chevrolet are delivering working mules of the Series 4, 5 and 6 trucks. The price of the base 2023 Chevy Silverado 4500 is just under $50k, the Silverado 5500 jumps over this limit, while the Silverado 6500 adds $2k more. General Motors is not producing the same trucks with the GMC Sierra badge. Those vehicles are specialized for the work in construction sites and other tough jobs.
