Navara is one of the most reliable and popular trucks worldwide. In the US, you will find it as the 2024 Nissan Frontier, with some modifications. The company won’t change the mid-size pickup for the new season. In the foreseeable future, we might see a hybrid setup. The Frontier is still a very competitive model, although this segment is pretty tough. Nissan is going to face the competition in Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado and Jeep Gladiator.
The Japanese company recently revisited the engine room and you can find a new V6 engine under the hood of the 2024 Nissan Frontier. A four-cylinder powerplant is no longer an option. So, there is room for a hybrid. Some say that even Frontier Nismo could be added. Of all versions, the most anticipated is the PRO-4X. It is an off-road package that makes Frontier capable of driving in the toughest conditions. But, the pickup offers plenty of other options – trim levels, cab and bed configurations.
2024 Nissan Frontier Specs
The power source for the upcoming truck remains the same. The 2024 Nissan Frontier will use a 3.8-liter V6 mill with 310 horsepower. That is more than most of the competition can do. The plant also produces 281 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity is 6,720 pounds. That is the segment where engineers must make improvements. Leaders in this market can do 7,000 lbs. The truck is available with rear-wheel drive (standard) and four-wheel drive (optional). The first one returns 21 mpg combined, while the 4WD consumes more gas. A nine-speed auto transmission sends power to wheels.
An oil burner is not an option. Well, too bad, since buyers worldwide trust more to Navara diesel more than gas engines. Still, in the US, it is more likely that we’ll see the 2024 Nissan Frontier hybrid. Such pickups are not too popular yet. Hybrid setups can’t haul as much as the classic builds. But, in the near future, those and electric trucks will take over the market.
2024 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X and Other Grades
A few years ago, the Frontier was the only truck available under $20,000. But, it was with the base equipment and a small four-cylinder engine. The attractive price was not enough to make it too popular. So now, the truck is available only with a V6 and the price is already above $30,000 for the Frontier S package. The base offering includes 16-inch steel wheels, push-button start, cloth upholstery, an 8-inch screen, and 6-speaker audio… so, nothing impressive. The SV is a $3,000 upgrade with larger alloy wheels and power adjustable driver’s bucket. But, this grade also unlocks optional packages – Convenience and Premium.
Nevertheless, the 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is the star of the lineup. The off-road duty is improved thanks to unique shocks and suspension. Also, skid plates are there to protect the body from rocks. A four-wheel drive is standard for the Pro-4X, while the Pro-X is bringing pretty much all the same, but with an FWD. Premium package adds leather seats, while the Convenience bundle includes 360-degree camera and wireless charger.
