For a long time, we are waiting for this to happen. But somehow, all the truckmakers were afraid of the move. Hybrid configurations are not the best haulers and that is the main advantage for pickups. Now, Toyota launched the I Force system for the larger Tundra. It combines conventional engine with electric battery for exceptional outputs and towing capacity. Soon, expect a lighter version to be available for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. There are also rumors about the hybrid version of the 4Runner, the SUV that shares a lot of things with the truck.
For now, we can only speculate about the release and spec of the Tacoma hybrid. But, it will definitely steal the show when it shows up. Toyota has no other model to hybridize, since all the smaller crossovers and SUVs are using one of those systems as optional drivetrain. And one thing is in common – exceptional fuel economy. Tacoma needs towing capacity.
New Concept
Toyota still needs to show us more than teasers of the new truck concept. We leave a door open for the Tacoma, although most experts believe the new platform is reserved for an all-electric truck. The Japanese company needs to catch up with Ford and GM, whose EVs are already in the final stages of development. But for now, there are no further details. One thing is sure – the 2024 Toyota Tacoma diesel is not an option since the truckmaker wants a cleaner source of power. It can’t be better than a zero-emission electric pickup.
2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro
New generation or not, the TRD Pro package needs an update. The lineup of those off-road vehicles debuted in 2015 with the current version of Tacoma. So, the next-gen truck could also get the next-gen TRD options. It is hard to imagine what is can do, since the current version is one of the favorite off-road vehicles. We were hoping to see it in the combination with a diesel engine, but it is not going to happen. Well, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma could combine electric drivetrain with 4×4 tuning, like the new Hummer EUT.
