2019 Mitsubishi Raider is coming back!

The memory of Mitsubishi Raider slowly becomes to fade. After ten years of silence, the truck seems to be ready for the comeback. At least rumors are reporting so. On the other hand, there are some official hints. For example, Mitsubishi is now a partner of FCA. The company is one of the leaders in the trucks segment, with Ram 1500 being one of the best-selling pickups in the US. But, the incomplete lineup is missing the small truck. Fiat has the Fullback, which is not coming to the US. Or, it could appear as Dodge Dakota. The last option is to see the compact truck by FCA as 2019 Mitsubishi Raider.

Dakota and Raider were produced in some plants back in the time. Now, both models are out of production. We hope it is not going to be situation beyond 2019 since one of them could be back. The latest rumors are considering 2019 Mitsubishi Raider as favorite.

2019 Mitsubishi Raider Engine

As we tried to predict in our review about the Dodge Dakota, the drivetrain of the small FCA truck could be a 2.4-liter four-pot. That is the same one which is used by the Mitsubishi Triton. Also, this one can meet all the requirements of the US market. On the other side, taking the engine from Triton, or L200 means the 2019 Mitsubishi Raider will have some similarities with its sibling for the first time. It was always closer to Dakota, rather than other Mitsubishi trucks. The engine is going to use manual or automatic transmission.

Diesel

Another option for 2019 Mitsubishi Raider is a diesel engine. Well, this is not impossible, since the competition is using them for their vehicles. Chevy Colorado, thanks to its Duramax unit, is the best small pickup truck for towing. Ford Ranger is about to get a diesel engine, as well as Toyota Tacoma. So, the Mitsubishi Raider needs it as well to stay competitive.

2019 Mitsubishi Raider Expectations

The 2019 Mitsubishi Raider is a top priority for FCA truck segment. They can’t leave the market to Ford and Chevrolet without a battle. On the other hand, this is the big decision. The compact pickup market is the most jeopardized. The reason is the competition by crossovers. Some of these vehicles can tow as much as small trucks. Also, these are safer, more comfortable, and cheaper for maintenance. So, a big task is ahead of Raider when it steps on the streets again.

2019 Mitsubishi Raider Release Date

The FCA and Mitsubishi must react fast not to lose too much time. Rivals are already out there launching compact trucks. The 2019 Mitsubishi Raider could be a surprise for the next season. Well, we are still not sure if the vehicle arrives as Dodge Dakota, Or even maybe Fiat Fullback.

Price

One of the advantages of the upcoming 2019 Mitsubishi Raider will be the price. We believe it is about to be even cheaper than Nissan Frontier. That means we can count on the pickup that costs less than $20,000. Of course, special trim levels and packages will boost the price.
