It is time for the truck segment to introduce a new class. The market for luxury pickups is really short at the moment. And the popularity of these vehicles is growing. The 2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT is one of the most anticipated models when we are speaking of luxury trucks. Well, General Motors is one of the truckmakers that already delivers a premium lineup of pickups – with the Denali badge. Other companies are also there, but with some high-end trim levels for the existing lineup.
The nameplate is showing who is going to be the closest relative to the 2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT. The luxury SUV is big, bold, and still the best-seller in the full-size segment. It won’t be hard to use the same platform for the pickup. However, many other things are questionable. GM will deliver the latest features for its luxury pickup, including the Super Cruise package, MultiPro tailgate, and the special camera trailering system.
2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT Specs
There are no doubts the GM has an engine capable of powering such a big and luxurious truck. All fans are sure the 6.2-liter V8 is the best option. It is the engine of the Escalade SUV and some high-end trucks. This time, the V8 unit is the main choice. Owners of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT can count on 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission will send power to all wheels. There are some rumors saying it will be the only option for the EXT. Other options will include RWD and some off-road boosters.
A diesel engine is also available. The SUV is getting power from the new Duramax turbodiesel. A 3.0-liter V6 provides an additional option to buyers at the same cost. The power is decreased to 277 hp, torque stays put at 460 lb-ft, but the mileage is boosted. The EXT diesel will be able to return a few more miles per gallon than the gasoline unit. The downside is emissions standard, and this type of engine won’t be around for too long. Plus, GM turns to the electric future. Hummer EUV is already on the way for the next season.
2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT Expectations
Do not mix the 2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT with the Escalade ESV. The second one is the long-wheelbase version of the SUV. The luxury truck will have a market for itself. Well, the price could be a problem. The premium pickup won’t cost under $60,000. Americans are willing to spend extra for their rides. But, upgrades are usually mechanical, not cosmetic.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade EXT could change things up with the upscale offer of accessories and materials. Super Cruise would be the perfect addition. MultiPro tailgate allows truckers to use this feature in six different ways. The diesel engine will increase the towing capacity. Chevy Silverado 1500 sits at 9,500 lbs, but engineers are going to increase the potential pretty soon. Main rivals are over 12,000 pounds. The Escalade EXT is not confirmed yet. In the second half of the 2021, we will know if the truck is coming back for sure.
