A 2.0-liter TDI was initially available with 90 kW / 120 hp, but after only a season in market, engineers boosted this engine. Now, ten years later, it is still out with 103 kW / 138 hp and 250 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is betting a boost by a bi-turbo system. In this case, outputs will jump to 121 or 132 kW, or 162-180 horsepower, with 295-310 lb-ft of twisting power. The company offers multiple transmission and drive options. The most interesting setup includes the Shiftable 4Motion AWD, where you can switch modes between two and four wheels. Of course, there are standard rear-wheel drive and 4Motion.
In 2016, the company introduced the Bluemotion V6 oil-burner. The 2022 VW Amarok Diesel will keep the same engine under the hood. In its base form, it returns 165 hp and 400 lb-ft. Since 2019, engineers are tuning it to 270 hp and 430 pound-feet of torque. You will need an automatic gearbox, which means a stick is still an option. Here, the truck is good for 225 ponies / 165 kW and 370 lb-ft.
