We started a hot topic with rumors about the Lexus pickup. A lot of fans contacted us to ask about other models that could be available soon in this segment. It made us look for more info. One particular truck was very interesting because of many things, and that is the 2022 Lincoln Mark LT.
First of all, this is the luxury brand of the leading truckmaker in the US. The question is – why Ford is not delivering a premium pickup with the Lincoln badge? Well, the company already owns the most expensive premium model in the market – F-150 Limited, priced above $90,000. Yes, Ram 1500 TRX Hellcat costs more, but it is a performance model, not packed with a lot of luxury features.
Basically, the 2022 Lincoln Mark LT would be a rebadged mechanical twin of the F-150. Engineers won’t have a tough task picking some of the existing drivetrain configurations. Also, designers will have to modify the interior and exterior and make the truck look more like Lincoln. Again, not a big problem, especially with the new Navigator coming redesigned.
2022 Lincoln Mark LT Specs
Ford Motor Company will have an easy time picking up the engine for the 2022 Lincoln Mark LT. Well, there will be unhappy fans for sure. A V8 seems to be the perfect match. When the truck was in production, before it was discontinued, it was getting power from a 5.4-liter Triton V8 engine, which is not used anymore. In the second generation, which was not available in the US, a 5.0-liter V8 mill was the powerplant. This is a unit that is still being under the hood of the F-150. So, it makes sense to see it back with 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.
Another option is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo with outputs between 370 and 450 horsepower. The 2022 Lincoln Mark LT will maximize power for sure. This setup also comes with 510 pound-feet of twist. We won’t stop there, since the optional drivetrain might be an oil burner. A 3.0-liter mill cranks 250 hp and 440 lb-ft.
Release Date, Price
Luxury trucks are not quite popular. That is why this segment is very limited to only a few high-end trim levels. We already mentioned F-150 Limited. Probably the only premium package is Denali that comes with GMC trucks. Anyway, Ford might try to rebadge its legendary pickup and assign it to the Lincoln lineup. It will be interesting to see if this experiment works out. Well, if they are going to try with a compact truck called Maverick, a premium pickup could also be there.
The price of the premium truck is the biggest problem. Truckers are willing to pay more, but only if upgrades will make their rides more capable of working and towing. But, when it comes to the luxury, SUVs are way better options because of their versatility and comfort. Anyway, if the 2022 Lincoln Mark LT comes out, do not expect a bargain. The base price won’t be under $60,000.
