Nissan is trying to keep the pace with leaders in the truck industry. We can’t call it one of the best truckmakers, but the Japanese company is doing its best to be a rival to Ram, Chevy, Ford and Toyota. That’s why experts are sure the 2023 Nissan trucks lineup will come with some significant changes.
Three models are available in the US. The mid-size Frontier was recently updated. A redesign of the half-ton Titan is now a priority. The Titan XD is positioned somewhere between full-size and heavy-duty classes, and it follows the changes on the base version. Unlike North America, in the rest of the world, Nissan is a leading truckmaker, thanks to the Navara pickup.
We Expect the Most From 2023 Nissan Titan
The full-size truck is the slowest selling model in the segment. Toyota made a bold move on its Tundra by replacing a V8 engine. Now, the same fate should hit the 2023 Titan. Instead of a 5.6-liter, the company will install a lighter drivetrain. A sacrifice of two cylinders make room for turbochargers. A twin-turbo system will be able to deliver a similar amount of power as the V8. Plus, the company is going to redesign both interior and exterior of the truck.
Changes on the Titan XD?
A larger sibling will follow trends set by the regular pickup. But, the Titan XD could be the only model with a V8 engine, especially if the Warrior concept enters the production. Speaking of the 2023 Nissan trucks, the Titan XD could bring back a diesel drivetrain. A 5.0-liter turbodiesel was a mighty configuration with plenty of torque – 555 lb-ft. Still, there is a big question mark above this engine.
Frontier – Unchanged
The mid-size truck is ready for the competition. A fresh look and the new engine drew a lot of attention. The 2023 Frontier could also offer a solution for the new Titan. A 3.8-liter V6 engine receives great feedbacks. It might be a new drivetrain for the full-size 2023 Nissan trucks. With turbochargers, it can reach levels of power a V8 is delivering. The base price of the Frontier is $28,500. We recommend some upgrades. If you want to go off-road, the Pro-4X is the specialist for various terrains. A lot of configurations are available. Some of the choices you will have to make are between 2- and 4-door cab, long or short bed, and trim levels. Besides the Pro-4x, there are also S and SV packages.
Navara – the Most Popular Nissan’s Truck
It is not easy to believe. However, US truckmakers are not so dominant in Asia and Europe. Japanese companies have a better worldwide reach and Navara will still be one of the most favorite trucks in 2023. It shares the platform with Frontier, as well as a 3.8-liter V6 engine. But, non-US buyers are keener on diesel configurations. So, the Navara will sell more oil burners. Its US counterpart, Frontier, is not carrying over diesel units to North America. Also, a compact model is not going to be a part of the 2023 Nissan trucks lineup.
