Escalade is the flagship model and the largest SUV in the lineup. After the release of the XT5 and expansion to the XT6 model, some experts speculated about the new full-size luxury SUV with the XT- name. But, it is not going to happen. Nevertheless, General Motors is launching some projects we considered as far-fetched. The Escalade-V is a high-performance model. The 2024 Cadillac Escalade EXT might be the truck that will pick up the same powertrain.
The return of the SUV-based truck is a hot topic for years. But now, it has a whole new dimension and makes even more sense. First of all, the company might bring it back because of the old fans. But, General Motors is already producing trucks with Chevy and GMC badges. However, Cadillac would be a premium model. Having in mind what is going on in the market, we have a new rumor.
2024 Cadillac Escalade EXT – V Series Truck
There is an interesting idea swirling in the truck world nowadays. For a long time, the major reason why the pickup is not coming back is its high price, because of the luxury nature. But now, Ram TRX and Ford Raptor R are the top of the line vehicles with exceptional performances. Also, the cost of each is over $85,000.
At the same time, Cadillac is launching the V Series package for the premium SUV. The main highlight is a performance-tuned engine. A supercharged 6.2-liter mill can deliver 682 horsepower. That is very close to the outputs of TRX and Raptor R (702 and 700 hp). What’s more, the Chevy Silverado ZR2 disappointed its fans. They expected a rival to Ram’s and Ford’s models. But, the ZR2 is enhanced with parts for off-road drive. The 2024 Cadillac Escalade EXT with the V Series engine would be a serious competitor. But, even without it, the luxury truck would cost a lot. The Escalade SUV with an enhanced engine sits over $150k. No one will pay so much for a truck.
Features and Options
A high-end engine is a must for the 2024 Cadillac Escalade EXT. Besides that, the truck will also be equipped with advanced technology and upscale materials. Well, like the SUV it is based on. Super Cruise is one of the best things buyers can get, although the company is working on the next stage of the autonomous drive – the Ultra Cruise. It is just one of the many unique upgrades the truck can offer.
The real question is if this kind of truck has a future. Truckers are paying around $50k average for the ride, but most upgrades are enhancing utility, not luxury. Well, the EXT with the V Series configuration can tow a lot, but the maintenance cost would be too high. Still, it would be nice to see it again, at least as the competitor to the Ford Raptor R and Ram TRX. GM is in different projects, such as electrification, but leaving those two rivals go could have huge consequences.
Thanks again.
