We had to wait a little bit to see the new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. While all the competitors were rushing to launch new models, General Motors organized a special event on March 1 to introduce its new truck. Well, it is pretty much the same as its closest sibling, Chevy Silverado 1500. However, unique design and special Denali edition will make this truck attractive to an audience which is not in love with Chevrolet’s pickup.
Reveal of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 draw a lot of attention. The release date is set for fall, and we believe that SLT and SLE editions are coming back. Also, specs will get a boost with a brand-new diesel engine. A six-way tailgate is a highlight of the new Sierra 1500. Also, the Denali version brings the unique bed box. For these truckers that don’t like the Regular Cab, GMC will update Crew Cab with new interior features.
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Introduces Diesel Engine
We already got used to the petrol engines. It is the same lineup as for the 2018 season. Starting with a V-6, upgrading to a V-8, and top of the class 6.2-liter unit for Denali truck are back again. But, the new diesel powertrain is what draws attention. Well, it is not unexpected, since more than a month before the reveal of 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, the all-new Chevy Silverado 1500 introduced this engine.
As a sister company, GMC is using the same drivetrain for its Sierra. It is a 3.0-liter Duramax engine. A turbodiesel unit is capable to deliver 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. It is a rival to PowerStroke 3.0-liter which we will find in next year’s Ford F-150 Diesel. GMC Sierra 1500 truck will use a 10-speed automatic transmission, and both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
MultiPro 6-way Tailgate
This is something new. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will add a 6-way tailgate to its rear end. The multifunctional feature can be used as a step for jumping in the bed. But, it can be set up so the oversized load can fit the bed. Finally, small gates can be positioned to serve as the workstation for laptop or similar devices and documents.

2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali is the Top Option
Denali badge in GMC stands for something extraordinary. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will carry the most potent engine. A 6.2-liter unit can produce 420 horses. Well, it is something we knew before its reveal. But, what is new for this pickup? Besides small cosmetic updates, our attention is on carbon bed. Well, the box is still made of steel. Special carbon-fiber panels are covering bed and walls. These are durable, resistant to scratches, and what is more important – lighter than the previous ones. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will lose at least 62 pounds thanks to these innovations. The rest of the trucks is also using lighter elements, so the entire diet leads to a 360-lbs weight drop.
2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Release Date
Although it had a presentation, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is not available for purchase. Orders will start in fall, and fans will see the first units in salons at the same time. Pricing is not official yet, but we doubt that the initial cost will exceed $30,000.
