The upcoming version for the 2021 season is introducing radical changes. A V8 is replacing a twin-turbo V6. However, it is not a high output 5.2-liter turbo unit also used for the Shelby Mustang GT500. Instead, the new Raptor is getting a 4.8-liter turbocharged V8.

Under the bonnet of the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will be a 4.8-liter displacement with 420 hp, according to rumors. The new truck is being spied, but we can’t have a peek in the engine room. This mill should replace a 3.5-liter V6 capable of producing 450 hp. So, it is a downgrade.
On the other hand, fans wanted to see the Raptor with a V8. Previously, that was a 5.0-liter Coyote with 395 horsepower. So, they will get more power and smaller displacement. That means a better fuel economy, but it is not important to truck’s owners.

Raptor will rule the off-road truck segment for some while, that is certain. With the new changes, Ford will cement that place. Still, the new unit will increase the price, that is what we expect. Currently, the truck costs $53,200. The new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will start above $55,000.
However, there are a couple of questions regarding the performance. A V8 is definitely an improvement. But, how it is going to fit with off-road equipment and capabilities.

The arrival of the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor depends on the development of the new engine. We believe the company will speed things up and make its truck available before the competition comes out with their off-road trucks.
