Ford is ready to launch the new 7.3-liter petrol engine. Experts are trying to offer it to the existing models, but none of them would be more suitable than the F-150 Raptor. The new concept is on the way and it will appear as 2021 YM. The Blue Oval company will configure it specially, so the new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor can rival the 2021 RAM Rebel TRX.
It is not an easy task. FCA is using the Hellcat engine for the toughest truck that will appear next season. The 2021 RAM Rebel TRX will burst 707 horsepower. For a while, we can hear rumors about this model. The truckmaker warmed these speculations during the premiere of the new Ram 1500 truck in 2018. The display in the control panel showed the clock set at 7:07. However, an official word about it is missing and we still can’t see Rebel TRX out. We already wrote about this truck as the Raptor-killer. In 2021 fans will finally see the showdown.
Specs TRX vs Raptor
Currently, Raptor is the most exciting off-road truck in the market. Forget about the Tundra TRD Pro. Ford sells nearly a million full-size trucks per year, and no other model can rival it. Well, we’ll see what Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 could do. But, while we have some clues about 2021 Ram Rebel TRX, info about GM’s muscle pickup is only a rumor.
But, let’s see what does the Ford Raptor has to offer. Under its hood is a twin-turbo V6 drivetrain. It works well and delivers enough power. But, fans are calling for a V8. Current engines would make this truck too slow. On the other hand, the power increase wouldn’t be so big. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 becomes more realistic with the new 7.3-liter engine on the way.
At this moment, the word is that the new powertrain is going to be available only for the Super Duty models. It can produce 430 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. We believe that engineers will tune it to create at least 500 hp. The huge V8 displacement will offer enough power for off-road tasks, although it lacks horsepower compared to the Ram Rebel TRX.
What is the Hellcat Engine?
The 6.2-liter supercharged unit is currently the most powerful drivetrain for the SUV lineup. It can crunch out 707 hp for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is also used for Dodge Charger and Challenger, where it creates 717 and 797 ponies. For the 2021 RAM Rebel TRX, engineers will tune it to 707 hp. This is a sure thing.
Rebel TRX Concept Finally Enters Production. Ford Raptor Comes With Changes as Well
Aside from speculations, some things about these two trucks are certain. The 2021 RAM Rebel TRX will be built on the existing full-size pickup model. Also, we expect a lot of exterior upgrades from the concept that came out some while ago. Unique graphics, huge off-road tires and bumpers, aggressive headlights, and special upgrades all around the vehicle are making Rebel TRX a lot different from its siblings.
For the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor V8, we don’t have clues yet. The truck will go through a redesign and the new engine will be under the spotlight. Whatsoever, designers will also have a lot of work. Skid plates, blacked-out grille, bumpers, and side steps, and other unique upgrades are creating the off-road monster. Of course, there are special suspension and shocks.
