The mid-size pickup Tacoma from Toyota already has various editions from TRD packages. This is making a truck versatile and better performer. On the other side, full-size Tundra for 2018 season is not offering any of TRD feature. We have entry level SR model, mid-range SR5 and Limited, and top-range Platinum. This season we will also see a special 1794 Edition. Now, it is likely that the company will add the 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport model as well.
The TRD package is part of the extra offer for Tundra, Tacoma, and 4Runner SUV. However, some equipment is modified and presented in trim levels. For example, Tacoma offers Pro and Off-Road versions. Also, TRD Sport model takes a position between SR5 and Limited model. Since the full-size pickup truck has these two, it is likely that 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will take the same place.
2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport Features
Tundra would have a huge benefit of TRD package. Although Sport is entry-level, it will boost the off-road performance of this pickup. With confirmed features list for 2018 Tacoma, we can predict that pretty much the same equipment is on the way for 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport.
First of all, the Japanese carmaker upgraded the safety system. Parts of the TRD Sport package are lane departure warning and a pre-collision system. Comparing to the base model, Tundra TRD Sport brings premium audio. Entune system comes with navigation and App Suite. Outside, we will spot 17-inch alloy off-road wheels. Of course, since package for this pickup is coming later, we can expect extra stuff.
Cab and Bed Configurations
The 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will be available with standard and long bed configurations. For the cabin, there are Double Cab and Crew Cab options. The difference is in capacity. Both can take 6 passengers. But, door layout is making an entrance for rear seats on Crew Cab much easier.
2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport Drivetrain
While there are a lot of upgrades to the package from Toyota Racing Development, the drivetrain remains the same as for the base unit. We believe that 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport is not going to be available with the 4.6-l V-6 engine. So, that means a 5.7-l V-8 will be the only option.
Mileage and Outputs
While buyers won’t be able to choose powertrain, they will have a choice between driving methods. Tundra TRD Sport comes with both 2WD and 4WD. A 6-pace auto gearbox is a router for 380 horses coming out the V-8 mill. This truck will be ready to achieve 15 mpg combined, with the best output on the highway with 18 mpg. Finally, 400 pound-feet of torque gets control by the part-time 4WD system with the electronic transfer case.
Arrival of the 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport
If we compare Tacoma and Tundra, the lineup for the smaller truck has one model more. To, this is why we are so sure in the appearance of 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport. But, it is not the only reason. The predecessor had TRD Off-Road package. For Tacoma, it turned into three trim levels, while 2018 Tundra received none. The TRD Sport version could open the door for other levels of this extra package. The TRD Pro is top of the line model for Tacoma, and we are sure that Tundra fans are jealous for that.
