Engines Are Unchanged For 2020 Season
There are five different engine configurations for the current Sierra. The next model will add a diesel. The smallest displacement is a brand-new 2.7-liter turbocharged I-4 drivetrain. It can deliver 310 hp. Although smaller, it produces more power than its V6 sibling. A 4.3-l unit creates 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. However, serious truckers are always looking for big powertrains with high outputs. There are two of them ready for the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500.
GM’s most reliable petrol engines, available on all best-selling big rigs, are 5.3 and 6.2 displacements. The first one can produce 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can choose if they want to pair it with six- or eight-speed transmission. The first unit brings an active fuel management system, while the other is using dynamic. You will get two miles more per gallon, either on the highway or in the city. The largest engine truckers can find under the hood of the 2020 Sierra is a 6.2-l with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft.
The 2020 Sierra 1500 is also getting a diesel engine. It is a V6 Duramax unit that produces 280 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Fans of this kind of fuel can’t wait to see both Sierra and its GM twin, Chevy Silverado diesel.
2020 Sierra 1500 Denali and AT4 Trims
The new truck is available in Sierra as the base trim and the SLE as the next level. The new generation brought a new model – Elevation. This truck is coming with 20-inch wheels, unique grille design, and headlights. The next trim is SLT, while the top of the class models are All-Terrain AT4 and Denali.
The first one adds two extra inches under the body. Rancho shocks and special suspension are boosting the off-road performance. Of course, there is a 4×4 system for these adventures. AT4 is available only with V8 engines. Sierra 1500 Denali will use only the 5.3-liter unit and Crew Cab configuration. However, the most expensive version will bring a lot of upgrades. Dynamic Fuel Management is standard, as well as the MultiPro tailgate. Spray-on bedliner covers the floor in the box. There are also 12 tie-downs. Interior is covered with leather and infotainment system is using only premium features, including Bose audio and navigation.
2020 Sierra 1500 Prices
The base configuration for the 2020 Sierra 1500 will be a 4.3-l engine, 4×2 drive, and Regular Cab. This will cost you $32,000. If you add a V8 engine, that is $1k more. A 6.2 requires 4×4 drive, Double Cab, and SLT trim. That will make the cost go above $50,000. The most exclusive offer is Denali, that will cost at least $10k more. The price of the AT4 starts at $52k.
