2021 Chevrolet S-10 is Back! [But not in the US]

The truck is one of the iconic vehicles the GM ever produced. It was dropped from the lineup in 2004 to be replaced with Colorado. We can’t judge the company for that, since the new pickup is the most popular vehicle in the mid-size segment. But, older fans are not forgetting the old nameplate. It will be a disappointment to hear that the 2021 Chevrolet S-10 returns, but General Motors will cover only the South American market with this model.

We can see this vehicle as a competitor to the new Ram 700. The brawl between the two companies is becoming bigger. Well, GM cannot compete with Ford anymore, since the Blue Oval company is on the whole new level, trying to sell 1 million units of F-150 per year. Sales of its former archrival, Silverado 1500, are still good. But, the #2 place is now owned by Ram 1500. Chevy doesn’t want to let FCA take over the supremacy in the mid-size segment as well and that is why we see the 2021 Chevrolet S-10.

Production, Price, Market Expectations

The truck is checking in to the mid-size segment. Well, full-size pickups, such as Silverado, Ford F-150, or Ram 1500 are available at limited markets outside North America. The 2021 Chevrolet S-10 will be an exclusive model for Brazil, Argentina, and other South American countries. The company brings it without previous announcements. A teaser image warmed up the imagination, and the official introduction followed after only two weeks. The production will start in the next couple of months and the pickup will be in dealerships in the first quarter of 2021. The new Chevy S-10 will cost from $30,000 (converted to USD from local currencies), making it more expensive than its US sibling, Chevrolet Colorado.

2021 Chevrolet S-10 Engines and Accessories

Under the hood of the 2021 Chevrolet S-10 will lay a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. This one is good for 205 horsepower, which will be sent to wheels through a manual gearbox. An automatic transmission is optional, as well as the 4×4 at some packages. Like Colorado in some markets, the S-10 truck will also offer a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. We believe this is going to be a more popular option in this part of the world. With 200 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque, it will tow more than the petrol configuration.

The truck is presenting the new look. But, options include three different body layouts. Single and double cabins are there for the pickup styling, while the chassis truck is also available. The 2021 Chevrolet S-10 comes with distinctive styling. The company gave us pieces of information about the equipment. According to announcements, LED lamps, MyLink infotainment, parking sensors, traction control, and OnStar system are standard. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay services will allow you to pair your smartphone and get the best experience. Advanced systems are going to include navigation, larger screens, and safety upgrades. We still don’t know if the S-10 is about to get an off-road specialized model, such as Z71.
