What is New For the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel?

With the new truck being still fresh in the market, we are not expecting significant updates on the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel. The company is working on the next project – a hybrid truck. So, the diesel version is out there for all the fans of such kind of power. Well, with a better towing capability and gas mileage, there is no reason why not to love it.

Truckers are already reporting that the Duramax engine is the best in the class. Current Silverado with a diesel engine beats opponents (F-150 and Ram 1500). However, overall sales of the Chevrolet’s pickup dropped, and now it is the third best-selling model in the segment. The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel could change things up, especially now when the feedbacks from the street and dust are praising the engine.

Under the bonnet of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diesel is a Duramax 3.0-liter unit. It is capable of producing 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet beats its fiercest rivals by 40 lb-ft (Ram 1500) and 20 lb-ft (F-150). Silverado also returns 27 mpg combined. On the highway, the truck can do 33 mpg, while the other two vehicles are significantly behind. The company mates a Duramax mill with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. New Silverado 1500 ZR2 Could Use a Diesel Engine

The diesel engine is currently available at four trim levels. LT, RST, LTZ, and top of the class High Country offer their buyers an option with a Duramax unit as the source of power. The next model that could use such configuration is the ZR2. This off-road beast is not available yet for the full-size truck, while truckers love it on the smaller Colorado.

Spy photos are showing a particular version of the Silverado wearing a heavy camo. Its shape is more muscular, and wheels are more massive. Most experts claim that the company is testing the ZR2 version, as the rival for Ford Raptor, and the upcoming off-road Ram 1500 (there are few variants). However, we don’t know what is under the hood of the test mule, and that is the part where enthusiasts are splitting. Some say the GM is after the performance version that will follow Ram TRX Rebel and its Hellcat 707-hp engine. Others are saying the off-road pickup will use a Duramax diesel engine.
