2021 Renault Alaskan Changes and Specs

The first truck by Renault is coming after the company joined forces with a huge player in this segment. The big Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance delivers another cool product for the European market. The 2021 Renault Alaskan is not going to introduce any changes, and the facelift is expected for 2022 when we see what is going on with the new Navara and L200.

Debuted in 2017, the pickup found a wide base of fans pretty quickly. Nevertheless, the company is not planning the expansion of the lineup, or any bigger move. For now, Renault covers Europe and Colombia. In the USA, Nissan produces Frontier, while for the rest of the world you will find this model as Navara. Mitsubishi is also an important truckmaker and you will find their model with different badges. L200 is the most popular, but there are also Triton, Barbarian, and Shogun nameplates.

2021 Renault Alaskan Changes

The pickup truck is not bringing any major change for the upcoming season. This year, Renault updated the truck with a new suspension system, interior options, and greener engines. Small modifications can refresh the 2021 Renault Alaskan, but the big redesign is expected in the following year. The future will also bring a hybrid truck. But, everything depends on changes on the Nissan Navara, the pickup that serves as the base for Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Mercedes models. Well, every one of them is coming with distinctive styling, while the mechanical setup is pretty much the same. All trucks are relying on the engines created by Nissan.

Still, the French carmaker gives a special touch to this model. The styling Renault is using makes a difference in other classes. So it is in this segment. Truckers are looking for machines that can work. But, any improvements in the cabin, which make the work more comfortable, convenient, and safer, are also welcome.

After recent changes, we see the truck with 17-inch wheels and 18-inchers as optional features. Also, the company is offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as a part of a multimedia system. Optional upgrades can bring advanced technologies, such as an all-around view camera, trailer assist, or hill assist control.

2021 Renault Alaskan specs

Powertrain

Under the bonnet of the 2021 Renault Alaskan will be a 2.3-liter dCi drivetrain. Turbocharged, the engine is capable to create between 158 and 187 horsepower, depending on the tuning. Torque is at the same level – 313 lb-ft, or 425 Nm in metric units. The powerplant is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The company will keep this option for another season. Optionally, buyers can replace it with a seven-speed CVT gearbox. The company worked on this one and we must say the improvements are obvious.

One of the changes we might see in the 2021 Alaskan is a petrol engine. Well, Renault is not going to make a new unit. We can see one of the engines used on the Nissan Navara. Also, a hybrid setup is possible, but it is not happening so soon. Alaskan will follow the steps of its more popular siblings. What is new for the 2021 Navara, you can read HERE.
