Recently, we run into rumors about the end of production of Nissan Titan. It made us thinking. The full-size truck doesn’t sell well and it is not competitive to the US pickups. Also, the company discontinued a diesel engine for the larger XD model. So, everything is pointing that the 2022 Nissan Titan might be the last version.
But, there are a lot of positive things that will probably write off such rumors. First, Nissan is running a large update of all vehicles. Sooner or later, it will be the turn for the Titan. Some say already next season. There are plenty of options that can make the pickup very popular. We already have an off-road Pro-4X edition. But, the Japanese company could push it to extremes with the Warrior package. If you need more from your ride, the 2022 Nissan Titan XD is there to enhance the performance. It used to get power from an oil-burner. Discontinued last year, it might be back sooner than most fans expected.
2022 Nissan Titan Specs, Towing Capacity
While we are waiting for the news about the diesel powertrain, the 2022 Nissan Titan will still get enough juice from a 5.6-liter V8 petrol configuration. 400 horsepower is quite a lot of power. Converted to towing capacity, that is just under 10,000 pounds. To be competitive with US trucks, Nissan will have to go after diesel. A 5.0-liter unit is good for 330 hp and 550 lb-ft, or what is more important – 13,000 pounds of hauling potential. Rear and all-wheel drive are options for buyers.
2022 Nissan Titan Off-Road: Pro-4X vs Warrior
Sometimes, we feel like the Nissan Pro-4X lineup is underrated. The off-road package is not falling behind the competition. We can say it is on the same level as AT4 available with GMC trucks, and way better than anything Chevrolet and Ram can offer. On the other hand, Ford Raptor is untouchable in this realm, for now, while Toyota makes a big breakthrough with the TRD Pro edition of Tundra.
But, Nissan is ready to fight. The 2022 Titan Warrior might be their joker for the off-road battle. The bad thing is – the concept debuted a long time ago and most fans are disappointed because the package is not in production yet. As said, the truckmaker is preparing big updates and the 2022 Nissan Titan Warrior might be the highlight of the upcoming lineup.
Release Date
Definitely, the end of production is not an option for the Japanese company. This segment generates a lot of profit and it would be crazy to let the share of this market to the competition. The focus is currently on other vehicles, but the redesign of the Titan truck will draw attention. Is it going to happen next year is the question that bothers all fans. We will have to be patient. Nissan is unveiling plans for the foreseeable future, and you can see there are a lot of changes coming already in 2022. Navara/Frontier will be updated. Soon after that, engineers and designers will get a new task – the redesign of the Titan.
