The price is a bit higher, and the lighter version might be there as the entry-level. Highlights of the 2022 Rivian R1T are its mighty engine, which will make the truck sprint 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds. We don’t believe the towing capacity is going to be exceptional like it was announced a few years ago. The range is 250 miles, or 400 miles if you invest more.

An electric battery is a new thing for the truck class. Tesla made the first move by launching the Cybertruck. Ford is also working on the F-150 electric, while the next year is bringing GMC Hummer EUT. The 2022 Rivian R1T is one of the startups that has the most chances to get into production sooner than later. A few big companies, such as Amazon, recognized the potential and decided to invest in the electric truck and SUV projects. At some point, we could also read rumors that Ford could buy the license from Rivian. But, these were just speculations.
The powertrain for the R1T is a mighty electric battery that will make the pickup run at least 250 miles in a single charge. A dual configuration extends the range to 400 miles. The company announced only the specs of the high-end model, the first one that will be out. According to the chiefs, the truck will get 785 hp. When sprinting 0-60 mph, the R1T is stopping the clock at 3 seconds flat. Magnificent performance. Plus, add the towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. Again, quite stunning for the electric model.
There will be three battery packs available for the 2022 Rivian R1T – 105-, 135-, and 180-kWh. The company is still working on the recharging system. So far, there are no estimated times needed for the refill. It has to be fast and engineers must make it last less than 1 hour! Also, quick short-period plugging is going to restore 70-80 percent in just 10-15 mins.
When Will 2022 Rivian R1T Be Available?
The question is still there and the release date of the 2022 Rivian R1T depends on investments. The startup company is still searching for partners. But, it’s been a while and there is a high possibility that the electric pickup is coming out as the 2022 YM. The base price for the Launch Edition is set at $75,000. The base Explore model will cost $10k cheaper, but it will be available later in 2022. High-end versions with extended range and power won’t be under $100,000. The Adventure trim is also official and the price is the same as for the Launch Edition.
