Ford F-150 appears in Mexico only as the entry-level XL model. Buyers of the truck can choose between regular and double cab. Also, there is a choice of the drive system, with 4×2 and 4×4 available for purchase. Beyond these offers, F-150 becomes Ford Lobo 2020. As they call it in Mexico, ‘camioneta’ is available in XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trim levels. For the next season, Lobo Limited edition is going to bring major changes to the lineup.
The Ford Lobo 2020 pick up truck is pretty much the same as its US sibling. Still, it doesn’t offer all the features like the most popular truck in the world. The diesel engine is definitely not a choice for the new 2020 Lobo. Still, the offer is cool enough with V6 and V8 engines as options for the Mexican camioneta. Further drivetrains could include a high-output unit for the Raptor and possibly hybrid truck.
Ford Lobo 2020 Engines, Specs
The difference between the Ford Lobo 2020 and its base sibling, F-150, is in the base engine. The XL truck, Ford F-150 is using a V6 engine as the standard powertrain, while the V8 is optional. The new Lobo will get power from a V8 mill for the XLT trim. Upper tiers, Lariat, Platinum, and Limited are using V6.
The smaller displacement is a 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission is optional power router. Standard gearbox is a six-pace manual. Next season, the new Lobo 2020 could add a 3.3-liter V6 powertrain recently launched for the F-150.
A V8 powertrain is a 5.0-liter displacement with 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Transmission is the same and the V8 is not available at higher trim levels. With this mill, Lobo camioneta 2020 can tow up to 11,500 pounds.
Trim Levels – XLT, Platinum, Lariat, Limited
As said, the Ford Lobo 2020 will start from XLT trim level. The standard configuration for this pickup is regular cab and 2WD. Optionally, buyers can get a 4×4 version or Double Cab setup. We can compare it to CrewCab of the F-150 pickup. Upper configurations are Lariat and Platinum. Both of these are using a V6 engine and Double Cab with the four-door layout. The new 2020 Ford Lobo will also add the Limited edition. This version is the most expensive one in the US. However, the offer will be downgraded for the Mexican market. Still, Lobo Limited 2020 is going to be the most expensive camioneta.
Depending on a trim level we will see the new truck with various functions and equipment. An eight-inch screen is at the center of the dashboard. Infotainment system supports Sync3, navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Two- and four-door layout are available, and Double Cab can take up to five passengers. The Limited model will offer a sunroof.
Ford Lobo Raptor 2020
Besides the Limited edition, next season could bring us some muscles. Although it is only the US version, the F-150 Raptor could cross the border. Still, we have to see if the Ford Lobo Raptor 2020 could get power from a V8 engine. It creates 55 hp and 110 lb-ft fewer than the US model. A high-output V6 engine could go south to boost outputs to 450 hp and 510 lb-ft. Of course, there are also other upgrades on Lobo’s body to make it tougher and more durable.
Ford Lobo 2020 Prices
If Ford Lobo Raptor 2020 appears it will definitely be the most expensive model in Mexico. Its cost will be above Limited truck. The base models of the Lobo camioneta will cost 625k pesos ($32,500). All-wheel drive raises the cost to $34,500 (670,000 pesos). Currently, the most expensive version is Platinum (950k pesos or $48,000). The base models of the Ford F-150 in Mexico cost $27,000.
